Things I’ll Never Say Out Loud

This poem captures my journey of self-acceptance as an adopted child. I went through a period of deep disquiet in my heart about this fact and it manifested in shame and guilt which eventually became a contributing factor to depression. However, through the continual unconditional love received from my parents and Heavenly Father, I have overcome this and am more than grateful for this journey.

Reflections from the darkness

This article is about my experience with depression—putting it into words, describing it so that it’s more tangible and becomes much more real to someone who doesn’t know what it feels like. It’s to articulate in the best way I can how depression has affected me and how, personally, I view and experience it. This article also includes my experience with suicidal ideation as well as a close encounter with an attempt at suicide.
